I create portraits in pencil, watercolor, and digital media, searching for the spirit of each person I draw, or the essence that lives behind the eyes.

My work lingers on what most portraits smooth away: every line, crease and silver hair earned over a lifetime. I build my surfaces slowly, layer by layer, until skin holds light the way it does in life. For me, detail is an act of devotion, a way of saying that this person deserves to truly be seen.
